Terrorist attack near the Church of Saint Sophia

The Prime Minister of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu, called German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to express his condolences to learn that nine of the ten dead on Tuesday in the suicide bombing in Istanbul are Germans, reported the Turkish newspaper Sabah citing sources anonymous government.

The president of the Tourism Association of Sultanahmet, Yasar Yaviz indicated the Hürriyet newspaper that the attack "is a big blow to tourism throughout the region."

"There are 7000 hotels in this area. Tourists now want to go. They're already looking for tickets (to return to their countries). With this explosion, the year 2016 ended for us," he lamented.
