The Scottish Independence Referendum
On Thursday 18 September 2014 there will be a referendum on independence for Scotland. A referendum asks you to vote yes or no to a proposal. At this referendum the question will be:
 "Should Scotland be an independent country?’
 How do I vote in the referendum?
To vote in the referendum you will need to be aged 16 or over on 18 September 2014 and living in Scotland. You must also be a British, qualifying Commonwealth or European Union citizen.
The deadline to register to vote at the referendum was Tuesday 2 September. If you are not sure whether you are registered to vote, you can contact your local electoral registration office to check - find contact details for your local electoral registration office.
